Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She was the first actress to make her acting debut in Flora McGrath in The romantic-drama film The Piano. For this part, she was awarded an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second youngest winner in Oscar History. When she answered an open call for auditions and was selected for the part, she was cast as Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish piano player who moved from Scotland to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to get married. She was only nine and had no acting experience. Her move into the United States as a teen. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part as Jane Eyre in the film when she was only a child. Paquin was Frankie Addams in a 1997 film adaptation for television of the novel by Carson McCullers The Member of the Wedding and had a minor role in the role of Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She portrayed teens in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). Also, she played the character of Polexia Aphrodisa.
